Location
On the banks of the River Esk, close to coast/moors, ideal walking/cycling, 20 min walk into historic Whitby.

Streanaeshalch can be found in a small private development with well maintained shared lawned gardens, free parking and a slipway for access to the river.

If wanting to explore beyond Whitby the A171 to Scarborough, A174 north to Sandsend and beyond, and the A169 over the North York Moors are just a few minutes drive away. In addition there are regular buses from Whitby's bus station, and trains along the Esk Valley.
Whitby
Blue flag beaches, Captain Cook, Dracula, fishing and boat trips, beautiful jet jewellery and the best fish and chips around … a perfect destination for a long or short break.

A good selection of shops & supermarkets can be found in Whitby, and pubs, restaurants and tea rooms serve delicious local produce. Excellent butchers and bakeries are also located in Ruswarp and Sleights.

Larpool Viaduct
Lying just outside Whitby and crossing the River Esk, Larpool viaduct consists of 5 million bricks, is 915 feet long and was completed in1884.
The viaduct is mentioned in Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel Dracula (Chap.6, Mina Murray’s Journal):
“The little river, the Esk, runs through a deep valley, which broadens out as it comes near the harbour. A great viaduct runs across, with high piers, through which the view seems somehow further away than it really is.”
The Cinder Track
From 1885 until its closure in 1965 the old railway line from Scarborough to Whitby took goods and passengers up and down the North Yorkshire coast. Now it's an off road route through the North York Moors National Park for walkers, horse riders and cyclists.

North Yorkshire Moors Railway
Whether you're a steam fanatic or not you can't help but impressed by the wonderful sight and sounds of the passing trains travelling to and from Whitby.
